The front nine at the Guadalhorce golf course, which was designed by kosti kuronen, has a distinctively European feel about it, with its slightly rolling terrain and tricky greens, especially the long green at the 4th. On the back nine the layout is more of an American style with lakes, tropical vegetation and raised greens.

Throughout the Guadalhorce golf course many greens are extremely large, and in some cases they are shared between two holes, the 6th and the 8th for example and also the 12th and 16th. Refreshments came enjoyed by the practice ground near the 7th and 9th greens.
